Disaster Day was created by the TAMHSC-College of Nursing to offer hands on training in disaster response. The yearly one-day event is carefully planned and coordinated by faculty and students to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond in an emergency situation. A recent addition to the event includes participation from medical and pharmacy students to encourage an interdisciplinary learning experience.
Students from TAMHSC-College of Nursing, the College of Medicine and Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy as well as Blinn College nursing, radiology and EMS student will participate. The Brazos County Expo will serve as a medical needs shelter and handle crush injuries, fractures, internal bleeding, head wounds and respiratory distress.
