The College of Nursing requires submission of the Apply Texas Application which may be found at https://www.applytexas.org

Steps for completing the Apply Texas Application

1.    Create an Apply Texas account by going to http://www.applytexas.org.

2.    Complete the My Profile Section and be sure to save the username assigned and your password.

3.    Go to the My Application tab and create a new application.

• Select “Create a new 4 year university admissions application”

4.    Target university.

• Select Texas A&M Health Science Center

5.    Application type.

• Select Transfer, Undergraduate; (International students will select Transfer, International)

• All applicants should fill out the transfer application, whether you already have a bachelor’s degree or not. Questions #17, 23, & 24 of the application allow you to enter more information for those who already hold a degree.

6.    Select the semester of entry.

• There are 3 choices:  Spring 2010 for Accelerated applicants, Summer I 2010 for RN to BSN applicants, Summer II 2010 for Generic applicants. For more information on the three tracks, please go to http://nursing.tamhsc.edu. Select the one for which you qualify.

• Accelerated applicants may apply for the Accelerated and/or the Generic track. However, the Generic track is a 22 month program. This option does not apply to other track applicants.

7.    Select the school.

• College of Nursing

• Note the deadline of 10/15/2009 for Accelerated applicants and the 1/15/2010 deadline for Generic and RN to BSN applicants as well as the required application fee of $50.

• Do not select second choice school as it will not be accepted.

8.    Select the major.

• You will only be given one choice in the drop down menu. It will be the track that corresponds to the semester of entry date you selected above (#6).

9.    Complete remainder of application providing as much detail as possible.

10.  Custom Questions.

• On the last page of the application you will find questions that are required.  One of them is the required essay for the College of Nursing. Preferred length and format is 1 to 2 pages, single-spaced, in a 12-point font.  This essay must be mailed, faxed, or emailed upon completion to the TAMHSC Office of the Registrar, 235 SRPH Admin Bldg, College Station, TX  77843-1266; fax 979.862.3428; registrar@tamhsc.edu.

• Another question addresses location but is only viewable and applicable to Accelerated applicants. The College of Nursing is looking to expand with an Accelerated track option to the TAMHSC Round Rock campus in the very near future. Accelerated applicants only will be asked of their interest in that location. At this time, the starting date for this option is awaiting approval from the Texas Board of Nursing.  NOTE:  Your acceptance into the program will not be dependent upon your answer(s).  All applicants at this time will be reviewed for placement in College Station. However, if you would consider Round Rock as an option, please indicate on the custom question responses.

Essays

The application refers to Topic C essay as optional. This essay is entirely optional and should be written if you have pertinent information that relates to this topic, otherwise, you need not complete it. Writing this optional essay will not make an applicant more competitive than another. See information under Custom Questions above for details on the required essay.

Fee Payment

Please note that we prefer fee payment to be made by check or money order.  We do not currently accept credit card payments. Be sure to include the student’s name, expected term of entry, application ID, and date of birth on your check or money order. The mailing address may be found on page 9 of the application.
