Application Deadline: February 1, 2009
All required credentials must be received by the February 1st deadline (this is not a postmark date). Students will be admitted into the programs once each calendar year and will be expected to begin during the summer term. Pending approval from the Texas Board of Nursing, students entering either the Generic or the Accelerated track will be expected to begin classes in the summer I term.
Admission Requirements (for all three BSN tracks)
- A completed Apply Texas Application
Go to http://www.applytexas.org (online application preferred). - $50 Application Fee (this is a nonrefundable processing fee) which may be paid by check or money order made payable to the TAMHSC College of Nursing.
- Official College Transcript(s)
Transcripts must be mailed in a sealed school envelope from each institution attended. College work from one institution posted on the transcript of another institution is not acceptable. Electronic, faxed, scanned or emailed copies will not be accepted. - Completion of prerequisite courses by the time of enrollment with a grade of “C” or better
Prerequisite courses may be in progress during the application period. Students will be required to list courses in progress on the application. Acceptance offers will be contingent on successful completion of prerequisite coursework prior to the first class day. (See Undergraduate section in the handbook to view prerequisite course list) - Personal Essay(s)
Essay topic(s) will be viewable through the Apply Texas application site. The essay(s) should be single-spaced, one to two pages in length, and written in a 12-point font. - Two(2) references
The Reference Request form must be used for all references and at least one must come from a professor (for those applying to the Generic and the Accelerated programs). For those applying to the RN to BSN program, at least one reference must come from your current or most recent immediate supervisor. - Copy of Nursing License, if applicable
- Copy of Permanent Resident Card, if applicable
- Official TOEFL Scores required for international applicants
Test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to be considered official. - Resumes, optional
